Seaimpíní Laighin 2022
Bhí lá stairiúil ag Coláiste Ghlór na Mara ar an 14ú Bealtaine 2019 nuair a bhuaigh muid ár gcéad chorn sacar riamh. Ba iad Killinarden CS a sheas sa mbealach orainn an lá sin agus cé a cheapadh, 3 bliain níos déanaí, gurb iad a sheasfadh i mbealach ar réaltaí 2022?
Ar an mbealach go dtí an cluiche ceannais bhí an lámh in uachtar faighte ag CGNM ar Choláiste Pobail an Bhóthair Bhí, Coláiste Pobail Grange, Gaelcholáiste Reachrann agus Coláiste Ráithín. Cuireadh isteach taispeántas den scoth ag na buachaillí sa chluiche leathcheannais a bhí ar siúl ar pháirc McKelvey Celtic freisin.
Bhí sé soiléir ón gcéad chúpla nóiméad go mbeadh lá níos deacra os ár gcomhair ná cúpla seachtain roimhe seo. Bhí luas lasrach leis an gcéad chúpla nóiméad ach mar sin féin, bhí an chuma air go raibh CGNM chun an chéad chúl a fháil. Tháinig an cúl sin tar éis cúig nóiméad d´éag ó chic pionóis. Rinneadh feall ar Sheán Mac Uilín sa bhosca agus sheas Luca Cailloce suas chun an chic a ghlacadh. Rinne cúl báire Killinarden sábháil den scoth ach choinnigh Luca a chloigeann chun an liathróid a stiúradh isteach san eangach ón bpreab amach.
Bhí fonn flaithiúil ar an réiteoir nuair a thug sé cic pionóis eile amach, an uair seo do Killinarden. Níor chreid Donach Mac Aoidh go raibh aon rud déanta mícheart aige agus d'aontódh an formhór ar an taobh líne leis. Bhí cluiche den scoth ag chatptaen Killinarden agus chuir sé Jack Ó Seannacháin ar an taobh mícheart don chic pionóis chun an cluiche a thabhairt ar ais ar chomhscór.
Níorbh fhéidir an dá fhoireann a scaradh don chéad leathuair a' chloig eile ó thaobh cumais nó iarrachta de. D'fhéach sé ar nós go raibh an cluiche chun dul isteach chuig am breise ach le 15 nóiméad fágtha thosaigh CGNM ag fáil an láimh in uachtar arís. Thosaigh seansanna ag teacht síos an taobh deis, go háirithe ónár gcaptaen spreagúil Cian Mac Oirc agus an giorria Darragh Mac Giolla Dhuibh.
D'athraigh Daniel Dreznjak an cluiche nuair a tháinig sé ar an bpáirc, ag cruthú go leor fadhbanna do chosainteoirí Killinarden. Faraor, bhí taobh líne CGNM beagnach ag caoineadh nuair a theip ar Daniel an liathróid a bhualadh agus é os comhair cúil oscailte. Chuir sé é sin ar a chuala cúpla nóiméad ina dhiaidh nuair a chruthaigh sé an seans do Thadhg Mac Fháil tar éis obair mhaith ó Mac Oirc síos an cliathán ar dheis arís. Bhí Tadhg tar éis chuile méadar den pháirc a chlúdach go dtí sin agus an t-aon rud a bhí in easnamh óna thaispeántas ná cúl. Nuair a fuair sé an seans thóg sé é ó timpeall 20 méadar amach.
Bhrúigh Killinarden go crua don deich nóiméad deireanach ach d'oibrigh bhuachaillí CGNM chomh crua nár fhéach siad riamh ar nós go raibh siad chun cúl eile a ghéilleadh. Bhí am fós chun cúl amháin eile do CGNM agus chuaigh an taobh líne craiceáilte nuair a chuir Alex Ó Broin 3-1 suas muid le dhá nóiméad fágtha.
Ba mhaith leis an bhfoireann ar fad míle buíochas a ghabháil le Príomhoide Maedhbh, Múinteoir Bláithín, Múinteoir Fiachra agus an fhoireann ar fad as ucht an tacaíocht ar fad le linn na bliana.

On the 14th of May 2019, Coláiste Ghlór na Mara won our first piece of soccer silverware in our debut season, competing in FAI schools’ competitions. Who would have thought that it would be 24th of May 2022 before the “Under 15 Leinster Final for Small Schools” would be competed for again? And who would have thought our opponents in 2019, Killinarden CS, would stand in the way of our soccer team of 2022 defending the crown won by our stars of 2019?
Coláiste Ghlór na Mara had already disposed of Enfield CC, Grange CC, Gaelcholáiste Reachrann and Coláiste Raithín en route to the decider in McKelvey Celtic, Finglas.
The game started at a frantic pace but it was Glór na Mara that eventually settled the quicker and were awarded a penalty after 15 minutes when star striker Seán Mac Uilín was fouled in the box. Luca Cailloce was called upon to take the penalty and despite the goalkeepers best efforts to deny his initial effort, Luca was on hand to tap home the rebound.
Soon afterwards, Killinarden were awarded a penalty of their own in somewhat controversial circumstances. Killarden’s captain and impressive number ten tucked the ball away and the teams were tied again. The teams were evenly matched in many areas of the pitch as both teams looked to get their noses in front and at half time there was nothing between the sides.
The battle of the first half continued long into the second with both sides making it very difficult for the other to play the football that had gotten them this far. Glór na Mara started to get some joy down the right flank as team captain Cian Mac Oirc began to show his attacking threat.
Substitute Daniel Dreznjak missed a massive opportunity as the game entered its final stages but he was able to dust himself off in time to lay off another Mac Oirc cross from the right wing into the path of Tadhg Mac Fháil to fire home. Mac Fháil had impressed defensivleythroughout and there was not a blade of the McKelvey pitch tha the didn’t cover.
Killinarden pushed for an equaliser but Glór na Mara’s teamwork and hard worked denied them. There was still time for a late Alex Ó Broin goal to send the Glór na Mara bench and touchline into raptures.
The team would like to take this opportunity to thank Príomhoide Maedhbh, Múinteoir Bláithín, Múinteoir Fiachra and all the staff at Coláiste Ghlór na Mara for their support throughout the year.
