Oíche Oscailte 2025/Open Evening 2025

Spraoi sa rang ealaíne le linn na hoíche oscailte

Físeán ó Oíche Oscailte 2025

Bhí atmaisféar croíúil, bríomhar agus áthasach le brath i gColáiste Ghlór na Mara ar an Déardaoin agus muid ag cur fáilte roimh thuismitheoirí agus daltaí bunscoile chuig ár nOíche Oscailte.

Bhí áthas an domhain orainn daltaí agus tuismitheoirí ó na bunscoileanna áitiúla a fheiceáil linn: Gaelscoil Bhaile Brigín, Gaelscoil an Bhradáin Feasa, Gaelscoil Ros Eo, Gaelscoil Bhrian Bóroimhe, Scoil an Duinnínigh, Gaelscoil na Mara agus Gaelscoil na Mí. Bhí deis ag ár gcuairteoirí labhairt le daltaí agus tuismitheoirí na chéad bhliana faoi shaol na scoile, le Rúnaí Gráinne agus le Múinteoir Ciara, Ceannaire Bliana, a bhí ar fáil chun ceisteanna a fhreagairt.

Ghlac daltaí ó gach bliainghrúpa páirt ghníomhach san oíche, ag tacú le taispeántais sna seomraí ranga agus ag cinntiú go raibh fáilte is fiche roimh gach cuairteoir. Bhí bia blasta á chur ar fáil ag Múinteoirí Andrea, Kayleigh agus Orlaith, le cúnamh ó Noya, a roinn neart de na hearraí bácáilte óna gnó nua féin — a choinnigh gach duine lán agus sásta le linn na hócáide!

Bhí manglaim mhata á roinnt ag an roinn mata, le Múinteoirí Rónán Mac Giolla Mheána agus Aoife ag déanamh cinnte nach raibh tart ar éinne ach an oiread!

Chuir Múinteoir Clodagh agus Amber Nic Stiofáin taispeántas rince den scoth i láthair lenár rinceoirí cumasacha, agus bhí ceol traidisiúnta beo á sheinm ag grúpa traid na scoile, faoi stiúir na Múinteoirí Éamon agus Caoimhe. Ag an am céanna, bhí ceoltóirí eile na scoile, faoi stiúir an Mhúinteora Grace de Búrca, ag racáil ar na pasáistí, ag líonadh na scoile le ceol agus le spraoi.

I measc na ngníomhaíochtaí eile, bhí comórtas fichille ar siúl sa leabharlann, faoi stiúir an Mhúinteora Pierce, le cuid de na himreoirí is fearr sa réigiún i mbun comórtais.

Bhí Aonach na hIdirbhliana, faoi chúram an Mhúinteora Fiona agus daltaí na cúigiú bliana, ar siúl freisin, ag léiriú na ndeiseanna foghlama, fiontraíochta agus taithí saoil a chuireann an clár ar fáil. Níor fágadh an spórt ar lár ach oiread — bhí Aonach na Spórt, faoi stiúir an Mhúinteora Cillian, ag cur béime ar an tábhacht a bhaineann le folláine agus le spórt i saol na scoile trí "Acadamh Spóirt na Mara".

Bhí deis ag cuairteoirí freisin bualadh leis an bhfoireann iontach i Rang Lir, ár seomra ranga uathachais. D’fhéadfaí an spás compordach, tacúil agus cairdiúil a mhothú, ag léiriú an tacaíocht atá ar fáil do gach dalta sa scoil.

Ina theannta sin, thug Príomhoide Maedhbh agus an Leas-Phríomhoide, Múinteoir Fiachra, caint spreagúil don lucht freastail, ag tabhairt léargais ar spiorad na scoile agus ar bhuntáistí an Ghaeloideachais do phobal an cheantair.

Buíochas ó chroí le Holly a ghlac grianghraif iontacha na hoíche, le gach duine a thug cuairt orainn, leis an bhfoireann agus lenár ndaltaí a chabhraigh le hOíche Oscailte den scoth a chur ar fáil. Tá muid ag súil le fáilte a chur romhaibh ar ais i gColáiste Ghlór na Mara go luath.

There was a warm, vibrant and joyful atmosphere in Coláiste Ghlór na Mara on Thursday evening as we welcomed primary school students and their parents to our annual Open Evening.

We were absolutely delighted to meet families from our local primary schools: Gaelscoil Bhaile Brigín, Gaelscoil an Bhradáin Feasa, Gaelscoil Ros Eo, Gaelscoil Bhrian Bóroimhe, Scoil an Duinnínigh, Gaelscoil na Mara and Gaelscoil na Mí. Our visitors had the opportunity to speak with first-year students and their parents, with Rúnaí Gráinne and with Year Head, Múinteoir Ciara, who was on hand to answer questions about life at the school.

Students from all year groups played an active role in the evening, supporting classroom demonstrations and helping to ensure each visitor received a warm and friendly welcome.

Delicious food was prepared and served by Múinteoirí Andrea, Kayleigh and Orlaith, with support from Noya, who generously shared a selection of freshly baked goods from her own new business — keeping everyone well-fed and happy throughout the event!

The Maths Department got creative with ‘manglaim mhata’, where Múinteoirí Rónán Mac Giolla Mheána and Aoife made sure no one was left thirsty — mathematically or otherwise!

A fantastic dance performance was led by Múinteoir Clodagh and Amber Nic Stiofáin, showcasing our talented dancers, while traditional music filled the air thanks to our school trad group, under the guidance of Múinteoirí Éamon and Caoimhe.

Meanwhile, other musical students, directed by Múinteoir Grace de Búrca, could be heard rocking out in the corridors, filling the school with energy and rhythm.

Elsewhere, a chess competition was in full swing in the library, with some of the best players in the region competing under the watchful eye of Múinteoir Pierce.

Our Transition Year Fair, organised by Múinteoir Fiona and our fifth-year students, gave insight into the variety of learning, enterprise, and life experiences the TY programme offers. Sport was also front and centre, with Múinteoir Cillian leading our Sports Fair, showcasing the importance of wellbeing and physical activity in school life through our ‘Acadamh Spóirt na Mara’.

Over in the Spanish classroom, guests sampled chorizo while the Gipsy Kings played in the background. In French, there were delicious crêpes to enjoy alongside the music of Celine Dion — a tasty virtual tour of Europe!

Our modern, state-of-the-art sports hall was also on display, with activity stations highlighting our excellent facilities.

Visitors were also warmly welcomed to Rang Lir, our autism class, where they had the chance to meet the dedicated staff and experience the calm, supportive and friendly environment offered to all students in our school.

To close the evening, Príomhoide Maedhbh and Deputy Principal, Múinteoir Fiachra, delivered an inspiring talk, giving attendees a deeper understanding of the school’s unique spirit and the many benefits of Irish-medium education in the community.

Sincere thanks to Holly who took the fantastic photos of the event, to everyone who visited, and to the staff and students who helped make our Open Evening such a memorable event. We look forward to welcoming you back to Coláiste Ghlór na Mara again very soon.
